Author Carol Off will be in Port Colborne Thursday Oct. 26/2017, this month’s featured author in the Canadian Authors Series.

“The Canadian Authors Series is thrilled to have award winning journalist and author, Carol Off, as our guest presenter this month,” said Elizabeth Madronich, Host of The Canadian Authors Series in a press release. “Her voice is a constant household companion to those who listen to CBC radio’s “As It Happens”. Off has a no-nonsense approach to interviewing and is fearless in her assignments in journalism but she also has a soft side that becomes evident in her newly released book “All We Leave Behind: A Reporter’s Journey Into The Lives Of Others”

“This story is a deeply personal one that describes Off’s involvement with an Afghan family, The Aryubwals, who she meets while filming a documentary on Afghan warlords,” the release said.  “Asad Aryubwal is the brave key figure in the documentary who speaks out against the tyrannical government and publicly exposes the criminal activities of Afghanistan’s premier warlord, Rashid Dostum. Asad and his family experience death threats, death squads, bombings, attempted kidnapping, shunning, abuse, racism, and the oppressions of the Taliban, before they are ultimately forced to flee their home.”

“Not only is this book a powerful account of one family’s journey to escape their country and find safety, but it also illustrates the difficulty experienced by journalists when they become involved with the people in their stories. This one found it impossible to walk away.”

The presentation begins at 8 p.m. at Roselawn Centre for the Living Arts after a 7 p.m. reception featuring a live band. The author will be selling and signing copies of her book after the presentation.

Single tickets for author events are still available, for more information visit the Canadian Author Series website: http://thecanadianauthorsseries.ca/
