Blackhawks pick up 4 – 1 win over Meteors

The Thorold Blackhawks have added another win to the win column this season Saturday Jan. 13 with a 4 – 1 win over the Fort Erie Meteors in GOJHL hockey action in Fort Erie.

The first period ended in a scoreless tie. The second period ended with the teams in a 1 – 1 tie.

Evan Miller connected first for Fort Erie on the power play at 9:20 assisted by Mike Masontti and Logan Warner. Trevor Neumann netted Thorold’s first goal on the power play at 17:59, assists went to Mason Howard and Matt Maidens.

In the third period, Thorold scored three unanswered goals for the win.

Kyle Preston connected at 10:30 assisted by Matt Maidens and Trevor Neumann. Spencer Blackwell added their third at 11:59 assisted by Mason Howard and Griffen Fox. A short-handed empty net goal from Daniel Low assisted by Griffen Fox and Mason Howard at 19:56 put Thorold’s total to four.

In the Golden Horseshoe Division the Thorold Blackhawks are currently in the fifth place spot, the Fort Erie Meteors the eighth place spot. For current statistics see the GOJHL website: http://pointstreaksites.com/view/gojhl .

In GOJHL hockey action earlier this week, the Thorold Blackhawks faced the Ancaster Avalanche in Thorold Thursday Jan. 11/2018. Ancaster won 7 – 2. The goal scorers for Thorold were: Mitch Brighton and Spencer Blackwell.

The Blackhawks next action is Thursday Jan. 18/2018 at 7 p.m. in Thorold against the Pelham Panthers.

In Friday night Golden Horseshoe division action the Fort Erie Meteors lost to the Niagara Falls Canucks 4 – 2. Fort Erie’s goals came from Evan Miller and Steven Katsis.

The Meteors are in action three times this week, Tuesday Jan. 16/2018 in Buffalo against the Regals, Thursday Jan. 18/2018 in Ancaster against the Avalanche and on Saturday Jan. 20/2018 they face the Welland Junior Canadians at 7:15 p.m. at the Fort Erie LeisurePlex.
