Glendale Metal Company of St. Catharines and International Metal Salvage of Port Colborne have teamed up to give Niagara residents a new way to support Niagara Health Foundation.

Beginning on April 16th, both locations will give people the option to donate a portion or the full value of their scrap metal to the Foundation. The funds raised will then be used to purchase much needed medical equipment at Niagara Health, helping to keep our local hospital sites up-to-date for all the Region’s residents.

To get the fundraiser moving in the right direction, Glendale Metal Company and International Metal Salvage have agreed to contribute all profits from the value of the donated metals during Earth Week, from April 16 until April 22/2018.

Glendale Metal Company and International Metal Salvage accept a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous metals including; household batteries, automotive batteries, barbecues, wiring, electric motors, engines (drained), catalytic convertors, pipes and more.

“What’s great about this initiative is that people can donate whatever they like without having to dig directly into their wallets,” said Dylan Elliott of Glendale Metal Company. “The program is an easy way to give back to the Niagara community in support of healthcare – a service that we will all rely on at some point.”

Niagara Health Foundation raises funds in support of Niagara Health’s hospital sites across the Region that serve more than 450,000 residents. Funds raised by the Foundation go directly towards purchasing essential medical equipment, funding capital development projects and supporting special patient care programs.

“Many people don’t realize that, like all hospitals, Niagara Health receives no funding from the Government of Ontario for capital equipment needs,” said Courtney McLoughlin, Development Officer, Events & Community Giving at Niagara Health Foundation. “It’s actually donations from the community that help purchase much needed equipment across our local hospital sites.”

Donor dollars help fund items including patient beds, ultrasounds, vital signs monitors, anaesthesia machines and dialysis machines. Every donation, big or small, makes a difference to the care that is provided to patients at Niagara Health and helps build a healthier Niagara for all.
