Local photography enthusiasts, members of the Port Colborne Camera Club, are displaying their work to the public for the first time ever.

“thru our eyes” Photography Show and Sale is a display of prints from the membership showing the beautiful work done locally by the shutterbugs.

The exhibit is at the Port Colborne Public Library, in the atrium. It opened June 1 and runs until August 31/2016 during normal library hours.

“The club was developing at a level, but, this allowed it to develop faster,”  Port Colborne Camera Club member Griz Witlib who organized the show said at the artist meet and greet Thursday evening. “So, I thought maybe having a show would help, no one had really printed anything yet.”

“They all learned different aspects, the process of going from screen to print, framing and matting, shooting rations and other things about photography,” she said. “I thought this would be a good opportunity for people to get to that next level and it looks great.”

“This is the first time the camera club has done anything to this level,” she said. “We’ve never shown, we’ve never printed, using a different way to show our photos. Usually we’ve done it online and electronically.”

“Now it’s here printed and framed for the community to see,” she said.

She said the camera club is expanding into the community and we should see more from them. “We are building partnerships with the Port Colborne Library and with Friends over 55.”

The Port Colborne Camera Club is a member of the Niagara Frontier Regional Camera Clubs. The club is open to anyone with a passion for learning about and exploring photography. They host special speakers, hold competitions and skill workshops and community outings. The club is taking the summer off but new members are welcome to contact the club anytime. Their website is: http://www.portcolbornecameraclub.ca/ .
