Game two of series goes to Falcons 6 – 2 over Panthers

Panthers Falcons logosGame two of the first round playoff series between the Pelham Panthers and the St. Catharines Falcons ended in a 6 – 2 win for the Falcons in GOJHL playoff hockey action Friday Mar. 3 in St. Catherines.

The Falcons shut out the Panthers in the first period scoring three unanswered goals.

Riley McCourt connected for the Falcons first one on the power play at 3:04, assisted by Lucas Smilsky and Zach Main. Patrick MacDonald added their second later in the period at 16:32, assisted by Noah Perlic and Riley McCourt. Zach Main connected for the third on the power play at 19:00, assisted by Greg DiTomaso and Lucas Smilsky.

St. Catharines led off the second period goal count with one from Jacob Reeves at 3:01, assisted by Romaeo D’Intino and Jack Venneri. Pelham got on the scoreboard at 16:01 with a short-handed goal from Logan Freiburger, assists went to Ryan Mahshie and Thomas Young. Riley McCourt added another power play goal for the Falcons at 18:10, assisted by Lucas Smilsky and Tanner Ferreira.

The Falcons went into the third period with a solid 5 – 1 lead.

Lucas Smilsky connected for the Falcons for their sixth goal at 0:56 in the third period, assists went to Greg DiTomaso and Brandon Skubel. Quinton Maddock added the Panthers second goal at 12:23, assisted by Logan Freiburger and Giusten Annetta.

The games three stars were:

  • Star #1: Riley McCourt, St. Catharines Falcons.
  • Star #2: Lucas Smilsky, St. Catharines Falcons.
  • Star #3: Dillon Lamarche, Pelham Panthers.

Game three of the best-of-seven playoff series is Sunday Mar. 5 at 1:30 p.m. at the Pelham Arena. Game four is Tuesday Mar. 7 in St. Catharines and game five is Friday Mar. 10 in St. Catharines.
