Heroin, marijuana, ecstasy seized in Thorold investigation

In the summer of 2017, members of the Central Region Street Crime Unit began investigating the sale of heroin within the Niagara Region. The investigation identified a supplier of heroin residing in Thorold. With the assistance of members from the St. Catharines Street Crime Unit the investigation culminated with arrests and the execution of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant at an address in Thorold.

Seized as a result was a quantity of suspected heroin, ecstasy, and marijuana as well Canadian currency and various trafficking indicators. In addition, police located a marijuana grow operation and identified stolen property.

Kody Mounsey was charged with the following:

  • Possession of Heroin for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Ecstasy for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Marijuana for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Production of Marijuana
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5,000 (2 counts)
  • Possession of Stolen Property Under $5,000
  • Possession of Stolen Property Over $5,000
  • Breach of Probation (2 counts)

Meagan Hyatt was charged with the following:

  • Possession of Heroin for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Ecstasy for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Marijuana for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Production of Marijuana
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5,000
  • Possession of Stolen Property Under $5,000

Mounsey and Hyatt were held pending a bail hearing on September 9th, 2017.
