Junior Canadians add two wins & one tie this week

Welland Junior Canadians logoThe Welland Junior Canadians have had a week of no losses, they have picked up one tie and two wins in the Golden Horseshoe Division.

On home ice Sunday Nov. 28/2017, they finished their week with a 9 – 1 win over the Buffalo Regals.

Welland’s goal scorers in the game were: Roberto Moretto, Alexander Demeski for two, Matt Hobbs, Brendan Rylott, Alexander Gonuour, Nick Bisser, Noah Blackely and Maliek Powell.

Welland ended the first period with a 1 – 0 lead, then took a commanding 4 – 0 lead in the second. Buffalo scored their one goal in the third period while Welland added five more.

In action earlier this week Welland battled to a 3 – 3 tie in Thorold against the Blackhawks Thursday Nov. 23/2017. Two periods of overtime failed to produce a winner.  They then beat the Avalanche 5 – 3 in Ancaster Saturday Nov. 25/2017.

The three stars of the game came from the Welland Junior Canadians: Philip Liakakos, Nick Bisser and Alexander Dameski.

In the Thorold game on Thursday Welland’s goal scorers were Alexander Dameski, Tanner McEachern and Noah Bollert. Thorold’s goal scorers were James Guest with two goals and Trevor Neumann.

The battle started with a 1 – 1 tie at the end of the first, Thorold was ahead 3 – 1 at end of the second. Welland’s two goal third period effort brought the game to the tie.

The three stars of the game were from the Thorold Blackhawks, James Guest, Trevor Neumann and Mitch Britton.

Saturday’s Welland goal scorers in Ancaster were Noah Bollert for two goals, Brendan Rylott for two goals and Noah Blakely.

The game was tied 1 – 1 at the end of the first, Ancaster pulled ahead 3 – 2 for the end of the second. Three goals from Welland in the third gave them the win.

Welland will be facing the Blackhawks again on Saturday Dec. 2/2017 in Welland at 7 p.m. and they host the Ancaster Avalanche on Sunday Dec. 3/2017 at 7 p.m.
