The newest addition to Lakeside Park has a name – the Rotary Bandshell.

The name was unveiled Tuesday August 8/2017 at a ceremony attended by representatives from the Rotary Club of St. Catharines, Mayor Walter Sendzik and members of City Council.

The Rotary Bandshell is located between the Lakeside Park parking lot and the Carousel, and can host a variety of entertainment, including small concerts, dance performances and theatre. The bandshell is fully accessible, ensuring it can be enjoyed and used by all residents.

“We were very inspired by the Lakeside Park project expansion and vision”, said Vicky Rudachuk, Rotary President. “The Rotary Bandshell will be a great enhancement to this well-known community gathering space, and we are pleased to invest in a project that will serve as an anchor for events that bring us closer together as a community.”

The Rotary Club of St. Catharines invested $75,000 to have the naming rights to the bandshell for the next 20 years.

“Rotary has once again made a great contribution to the fabric of our community,” said Mayor Walter Sendzik. “Thank you Rotary Club of St. Catharines for continuing to invest in St. Catharines and for helping with the revitalization of Lakeside Park.”

The community can use the Rotary Bandshell for picnics and small gatherings. The bandshell can be booked for private events and performances by calling 905.688.5600.

The Rotary Club of St. Catharines is a community service club of volunteers dedicated to improving the social, cultural and economic life locally and globally with a motto of ‘Service Above Self.’

The Rotary Bandshell is part of the larger Lakeside Park rejuvenation project supported by the City of St. Catharines, the Region of Niagara’s Lakefront Enhancement Program and the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program. A community celebration for Lakeside Park will take place later this summer.
