NCDSB lockout continues, negotiations ongoing

NCDSB logoThe Niagara Catholic District School Board (NCDSB) has locked out the elementary school teachers represented by the Niagara Elementary Unit of the OECTA (Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association) as of Monday Mar. 20.

The lockout affects 49 Catholic Elementary Schools across the Niagara Region.

Negotiations are continuing as well as the lockout according to the NCDSB website. Information posted at 8:25 p.m. Monday read:

“Negotiation continues, as does the lockout, until further notice. Schools will be open to receive students and every effort will be made to ensure students are in a safe environment, but programming will be significantly affected.”

The NCDSB website also said “While regular programming will be affected, Principals with available staff will, to the best of their ability, organize programs for students. Buses will be running on scheduled routes, and may be delayed entering school property. Principals and supervisory staff will be at the school to receive students.”

The teachers’ last collective agreement expired in August of 2014.

The labour negotiation updates are posted under the NCDSB website at this link: .
