Panthers lose to Corvairs in Sunday GOJHL action

Pelham’s Noah Caperchione and Caledonia’s Jesse Barwell clash in GOJHL hockey action Sunday.

It was a tough game in Pelham Sunday Dec. 3/2017 between the visiting first place Caledonia Pro – Fit Corvairs and the Pelham Panthers. In the end, the Corvairs went home with a 2 – 1 win.

The Corvairs did outshoot the Panthers, goalie Nicholas Kidd saved for 41 of the 43 shots against him while his Caledonia counterpart Pierce Charleson faced 14 shots, letting one in.

The Panthers had a 1 – 0 lead at the end of the first period which carried through most of the second period.

Pelham’s goal came from Jared Hill at 7:38 in the first period, assisted by Thomas Young and Kurt Villani.

Caledonia tied the game with only eleven seconds left in the second period with a goal from Jesse Barwell assisted by Jamey Lauzon and Andrew Burns.

Isaac Taylor scored the winner for Caledonia at 7:20 in the third period assisted by Jesse Barwell and Andrew Burns.

The three stars of the game were:

  • Star #1: Pelham Panthers goaltender Nicholas Kidd.
  • Star #2: Andrew Burns of the Caledonia Corvairs.
  • Star #3: Isaac Taylor of the Caledonia Corvairs.

In action in St. Catharines on Friday Dec. 1/2017, the Falcons beat the Panthers 3 – 1.

St. Catharines goals came from: Arber Xhekaj for two and Zach Lawrence. Pelham’s goal came from Chris Webber.

Earlier in the week, Pelham had a 6 – 4 win over the Regals in Buffalo on Tuesday Nov. 28/2017. Pelham’s goals came from: Kurt Villani, Noah Caperchione, Thomas Young for two, Chris Webber and Dante Tesoro.

The Pelham Panthers will be facing the Caledonia Pro – Fit Corvairs again on Saturday Dec. 9/2017 in Caledonia, then they will face the Thorold Blackhawks in Pelham Sunday Dec. 10/2017 at 2:30 p.m.
