Panthers win over Meteors in latest encounter

The Pelham Panthers picked up a 4 – 2 win over the Fort Erie Meteors Saturday Dec. 23/2017 in GOJHL hockey action in Fort Erie.

At the end of the first period, Pelham had a 3 – 0 lead, all three goals scored in the last quarter of the period.

Bryce Hoggard put in the first Panthers goal at 16:21 assisted by Noah Caperchione and Mike Butterfield. Matt Ruigrok put in their second at 17:42 assisted by Noah Caperchione and Bryce Hoggard. The third came from Chris Webber at 19:02 assisted by Chad Maurice and Noah Caperchione.

Bryce Hoggard picked up Pelham’s fourth goal at 9:52 in the second period assisted by Chad Maurice and Noah Caperchione. The lone goal in the second gave Pelham a 4 – 0 lead.

Fort Erie’s two goals came in the third period. The first came from Kevin Weaver-Vitale at 2:07 assisted by Daniel Aspro and Tyson Moore. The second came from Marco Lariccia at 18:25 with assists going to Andrew Somerville and Michael Fazio.

This recent win has tied up the seasonal match-up between the Meteors and the Panthers. Fort Erie won the first meeting on Oct. 14/2017, they tied on Nov. 5/2017. The Meteors took the game on Nov. 19/2017, the Panthers won at the Dec. 16/2017 meeting as well as this game.

Both teams will be taking a break until the New Year, Pelham returns to the ice Friday Jan. 5/2018 to take on the Buffalo Regals in Pelham, Fort Erie will be on home ice Saturday Jan. 6/2018 against the Caledonia Corvairs.

Currently the Pelham Panthers hold the seventh place position in the Golden Horseshoe Division, the Fort Erie Meteors are in eighth place. For up-to-date standings see the GOJHL website:
