Ravens widen gap with win over Whalers

The first place St. George Ravens have increased the gap to six points between them and the third place Niagara Whalers in the GMHL South Division with a 10 – 1 win Friday night in Port Colborne.

After a scoreless first period, St. George had a 5 – 1 lead at the end of the second period. Niagara’s Steven Farano scored their lone goal of the game assisted by Zach Main and Ethan Spaxman.

The other five Ravens goals came in the third period.

In the seven times, including this game, the Niagara Whalers have faced the St. George Ravens this season, they have won in four of the encounters.

  • Oct. 6 Whalers won 8 – 1
  • Oct. 22 Whalers won 10 – 9
  • Oct. 29 – Whalers won 9 – 7
  • Nov. 10 – Whalers won 8 – 7
  • Dec. 3 – Whalers lost 5 – 4
  • Dec. 22 – Whalers lost 11 – 4
  • Jan. 19 – Whalers lost 10 – 1

The Whalers are next in action Sunday Jan. 21/2018 at 7:30 p.m. at the Vale Health and Wellness Centre against the Windsor Aces.
