Royal LePage Niagara realtors get their hands dirty for Habitat

When Habitat for Humanity Niagara approached Brad Johnstone, vice president of Royal LePage Niagara Real Estate Centre, about supporting its home building efforts for 2016 Brad immediately confirmed the realtors would be thrilled to help out, not with just one build, but all of them.

The Royal LePage Niagara team signed up for one Adopt a Build Day on each of the Habitat’s construction sites last year, giving 32 realtors an opportunity to help build four Habitat homes across the Niagara region and raising $10,000 in donations.

“Royal LePage Niagara supports many charities throughout Niagara,” said Johnstone. “Our team is built with values of giving back to our communities, and our team is excited to continue support Habitat for Humanity.”

Habitat Niagara’s ‘Adopt a Day’ sponsorship program provides organizations with a unique way to give back to their community and learn a new skill. A combination of volunteer hours and financial contributions doubles the impact to Habitat’s home building program. The funds raised are needed to purchase land and building materials and the volunteers build the house – and you don’t even have to know how to swing a hammer to help out. Habitat’s Construction Manager and Crew Leads teach volunteers the skills they need to do the tasks scheduled for their day.

“Royal LePage really stepped up and set a precedent amongst other realtors,” said Alastair Davis, Habitat Niagara’s CEO. “They are a true community leader and partner of Habitat’s, helping to build stronger communities and support local families.”

With Habitat Niagara’s build schedule underway for 2017, Royal LePage Niagara confirmed their ongoing support on each of the builds for yet another year, engaging their realtors and giving back to the community where they work.
