Service Experts of Niagara partnered with Community Crew to help provide lunches for at-risk children in the Niagara community through its first-ever Curl for Kids Bonspiel Fundraiser at the St. Catharine’s Curling Club on Saturday, Nov. 25/2017.

Community Crew in St. Catharines offers lunches to children who would not otherwise have one through their Lunch Angels Program, which provided more than 6,300 lunches to area children in 2016.

“Our goal was to raise $1,000 in donations prior to the November 25 event to help ensure no kid goes hungry in our area, a goal which we exceeded. We had 16 of our team members out on a Saturday, and helped the event as a whole raise more than $16,000,” said Jason Collee, general manager of Service Experts of Niagara. “Organizations like Community Crew take the difficult steps of tackling the real problems facing our St. Catharines community, and we’re excited to be a part of the inaugural Curl for Kids Bonspiel.”

In the Niagara region, more than 12,000 residents use a food bank, while 25 percent rely on government assistance, and 15 percent live below the poverty line.
