Significant snowfall expected for Friday

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Niagara Thursday Feb. 8/2018 calling for a significant snowfall for Friday.

“A disturbance brewing over the southern plains states is expected to move towards Southern Ontario tonight and Friday, bringing another area of snow with it,” the statement said. “Snow will begin early Friday morning and continue through the day. Latest indications suggest that 5 to 10 centimetres of snow is expected by midnight on Friday. Locally higher amounts of 10 to 15 cm are possible near Lake Ontario.”

The statement reminds motorists to be prepared for poor winter driving conditions due to accumulating snow and poor visibility for both the morning and evening commutes.
