St. Catarines suspicious death victim identified

The Niagara Regional Police Service has identified the deceased male from Friday Apr. 13/2018 suspicious death in St. Catharines.

“Upon completion of the post mortem examination, the male victim has been identified as 60-year-old Glenn Joseph Hewer of the City of St. Catharines,” a Niagara Regional Police Service press release said Saturday.

The release also said that the next of kin has been notified and results of the examination are not being released.

The investigation began when the male was discovered by a member of the public.

Officers were called to Queenston St. between Calvin St. and Church St. at about 1:20 a.m. Friday Apr. 13/2018.

“A member of the public had been walking in the area when they discovered an injured male lying on the sidewalk,” a press release said Friday. “The male was treated at the scene by paramedics from Niagara Emergency Medical Service and transported to a local hospital. The male died at the hospital.”

“The investigation by the Niagara Regional Police Service is ongoing; anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at (905) 688-4111, ext 4322,” the release says.
