Third meeting ends with Welland win over Fort Erie

It was another close game Saturday Nov. 18/2017 in Fort Erie as the Welland Junior Canadians won 3 – 2 over the Fort Erie Meteors in their third meeting of the 2017/2018 season.

Earlier in the season, Fort Erie won the Sept. 30 game by a score of 4 – 2, Welland won the Oct. 22 game 5 – 4.

The Meteors took a 1 – 0 lead that lasted through the whole first period with a goal at 4:54 from Cail Cirillo assisted by Mike Masontti and Brady Lee.

Welland went ahead 2 – 1 in the second period. Alexander Dameski connected at 3:43 assisted by Maliek Powell and Liam Anderson. Matthew Giannini put them in the lead at 16:39 assisted by Noah Bollert and Daelyn Minovski.

Mike Masotti tied the game up for Fort Erie at 6:21 in the third period with assists going to Cail Cirillo and Brady Lee.

Noah Bollert put in the game winner for Welland at 12:40 assisted by Maliek Powell and Jordan Simpson, they held on to the lead to take the game.

The two teams are very close in the standings, Welland holds the sixth place position, the Fort Erie Meteors the eighth place position. For current standings see the GOJHL website: http://pointstreaksites.com/view/gojhl .

Both teams are in action again Sunday Nov. 19/2017. The Meteors face the Pelham Panthers in Pelham at 2:30 p.m. The Welland Junior Canadians face the Caledonia Pro-Fit Corvairs at 7 p.m. in Welland.
