Three losses in four games for Welland since New Year

Welland Junior Canadians logoThe Welland Junior Canadians have had a rough start as the season has restarted in 2018 after a break for the holidays.

The Sunday Jan. 14/2018 ended in a 10 – 1 loss to the visiting first place Caledonia Pro-Fit Corvairs. Welland’s lone goal came from Matt Hobbs assisted by Alexander Dameski and Michael Dischiavi.

Earlier in the week, they won 5 – 2 in Buffalo against the Regals Tuesday Jan. 9/2018. The Welland goals came from:

  • Matt Hobbs, assisted by Matthew Giannini and Noah Bollert
  • Matthew Giannini, assisted by Tanner McEachern
  • Brendan Rylott, assisted by Philip Liakakos and Anthony Grigg
  • Tanner McEachern, assisted by Matthew Ginannini
  • Alexander Dameski, assisted by Philip Liakakos and Erik Nelson

Last weekend, they faced the second place Ancaster Avalanche in back-to-back Saturday/Sunday games.

In the Saturday Jan. 6/2018 in Ancaster, they lost 3 – 1 with Welland’s lone goal coming from Robert Moretto, assisted by Matt Hobbs and Tanner McEachern.

The Sunday Jan. 7/2018 in Welland ended in a 4 – 3 double overtime loss for the Junior Canadians against the Avalanche.

Welland’s goals came from:

  • Noah Blakely for two, the first one assisted by Robert Moretto and Alexander Dameski, the second one assisted by Matt Hobbs and Daelyn Minovski
  • Maliek Powell, assisted by Mattew Giannini and Noah Bollert

The Welland Junior Canadians will be in action again on Saturday Jan. 20/2018 in Fort Erie against the Meteors at 7:15 p.m. then on Sunday Jan. 21/2018 at home against the Thorold Blackhawks at 7 p.m.
