Two arrested In Welland drug investigation

NRP LogoFor the past month, Detectives of the Welland Street Crime Unit have been investigating the sale of heroin and fentanyl by a male recently released on bail for drug related offences.

During the course of the investigation, officers observed behaviour consistent with drug trafficking.

On Jan. 8/2018 the investigation concluded with the arrest of two Welland residents who were found to be in possession of $3300 worth of suspected drugs.

David Cowe, a 32-year-old Welland resident is charged with:

– Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking 5(2) CDSA
– Possession of Heroin for the Purpose of Trafficking 5(2) CDSA
– Fail to Comply with Recognizance 145(3) Criminal Code
– Breach of Probation 733.1(1) Criminal Code

Ashley Hyatt, a 24-year-old Welland resident is charged with:

– Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking 5(2) CDSA
– Possession of Heroin for the Purpose of Trafficking 5(2) CDSA
– Possession of Methamphetamine 4(1) CDSA

David Cowe was held for a bail hearing on Jan. 9/2018 in St Catharines. Ashley Hyatt was released with a future court date.
