Wainfleet Fire Chief leaving for other opportunities

The Township of Wainfleet is looking for another Fire Chief after Interim Fire Chief Lee Smith has decided to pursue other opportunities.

A press release from the Township of Wainfleet issued on Apr. 10/2018 said that Smith will be leaving his role as of Tuesday Apr. 10/2018.

“During his tenure, Chief Smith spearheaded tangible steps forward for the Department, forging strong bonds with Wainfleet firefighters, Township staff, and myself, and built relationships with fire departments throughout the Region,” said Wainfleet Mayor April Jeffs in the press release. “His knowledge, leadership and dedication to the firefighters and residents of Wainfleet will be missed.”

Brad Bigrigg takes over as Wainfleet’s Interim Fire Chief.

“A special meeting of Council has been called for 7:00 pm on Tuesday April 10, 2018, to consider the appointment of a new interim Fire Chief for the municipality,” the release said.

A press release issued after the special meeting of council Tuesday night announced that Brad Bigrigg take over the position of interim Fire Chief.

“To ensure the Township of Wainfleet continues to benefit from expert fire service leadership until the position can be permanently filled, we are pleased to announce that the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Wainfleet enacted By-law No. 014- 2018 appointing Brad Bigrigg, former Caledon Fire Chief, and current Program Manager for the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs (OAFC), as the municipality’s new interim Fire Chief,” the release said.
