Welland says goodbye to Dalton Jacques

File photo – The East Main Street bridge in Welland bathed in yellow light and lined with supporters holding a candlelight vigil in support of Dalton. Dalton passed away Friday March 11, funeral services were held Tuesday.

The City of Welland is mourning the loss of fifteen-year-old Dalton Jacques who passed away Friday March 11/2016, he was undergoing treatment for a rare form of bone cancer.

A few weeks ago, the City of Welland showed an outpouring of support for him by lighting up the East Main Street Bridge yellow as he was undergoing treatments at McMaster Children’s Hospital in Hamilton, http://eriemedia.ca/on-a-cold-night-welland-shows-its-warmth-for-one-of-its-own/.

A service was held for him at St. Kevin’s Church on Niagara St. in Welland today.

The family had asked that in lieu of flowers, donations to the Ronald McDonald House Charities Hamilton or Alivia’s Rainbows would be appreciated. Donations can still be made through the Welland Funeral Home, 827 East Main St. Welland.
