Whalers deal up win over Aces

The Niagara Whalers dealt themselves a winning hand, a 4 – 1 winning hand, over the visiting Windsor Aces in GMHL hockey action Friday Nov. 17/2017 in Port Colborne.

Niagara had a 2 – 0 lead at the end of the first. Goals came from Zach Main, assisted by Daniel Pugliese and Brandon Lindberg as well as John Swiatek assisted by Zach Main and Jake Lloyd.

The lead changed to 4 – 1 in the second period which lasted through a scoreless third period.

Windor’s Milos Nikolic scored their lone goal assisted by James Brooks and Alec Segers.

Niagara’s goals came from Brandon Lindberg, assisted by Logan Aprea and Patrick Desjardins and Jake Lloyd with assists going to Alex Remedios and David Christopher.

The three stars of the game were:

  • Star #1: Dmytro Zakharchenko, goalie for the Windsor Aces with 56 saves for a 0.933 sv%.
  • Star #2: Holden King, goalie for the Niagara Whalers with 22 saves for a 0.957 sv%.
  • Star #3: Zach Main, Niagara Whalers, with one goal and one assist.

The Whalers are next in action tonight in London against the Lakers. They will face the Aces again in Windsor on Sunday Nov. 19, Friday Nov. 24 they are in Tilsonburg against the Hurricanes. Their next home game is Friday Dec. 1/2017 against the first place Kingsville Kings.
