Whalers take game three against Renegades, sweep series

Niagara Whalers logoThe Niagara Whalers have swept the semi-final series against the North York Renegades winning the third game 7 – 0 Friday Mar. 3 in GMHL hockey playoff action in Port Colborne.

Tyler Jackson led off the Whalers scoring late in the first period at 16:47, assists went to Zack Lansfield and Paolo Sivilotti. Tyler Jackson connected again on the power play at 19:55, assisted again by Paolo Sivilotti and Zack Lansfield.

Niagara’s next five goals came in the second period, there was no scoring in the third.

Tyler Jackson got his hat trick goal at 6:14, with assists again going to Paolo Sivilotti and Zack Lansfield. David Christopher connected on the power play at 8:01, assisted by Tyler Jakson and Paolo Sivilotti. Tyler Jackson netted his fourth goal of the night at 8:27, assisted by Masterson Jesse and David Christopher. Matt Hore added a power play goal at 17:27, assisted by Tyler Hore and Manny Manns. Tyler Hore added the seventh Whaler goal on a power play at 18:53, assisted by David Christopher and Tyler Jackson.

The three stars of the game came from the Niagara Whalers:

  • Star #1: Tyler Jackson with four goals and two assists.
  • Star #2: Goalie Joel Horodziejczyk with 28sv.
  • Star #3: Paolo Sivilotti with four assists.

The Whalers are waiting to see who they will face in the South Division Championship round, the winners of the series between St. George Ravens and the Kingsville Kings. St. George currently leads the series 2 – 0, game three is tonight.
