Whalers win 8 – 1 over Ravens

Niagara Whalers logoThe Niagara Whalers added another one to the win column Friday Oct. 6/2017 with an 8 – 1 win over the St. George Ravens in GMHL hockey action in Port Colborne.

David Christopher led off the Whalers scoring with a short-handed goal at 5:38 in the first period assisted by Nick Pastorious and Patrick Desjardins. St. George evened the score at 9:16 with a goal from Sheldon Nunes assisted by Lucas Pozzobon.

The score remained tied until just past the halfway mark of the second period. Niagara’s Brandon Lindberg added their second goal at 11:21, assists went to Zach Main and Jakob Reeves.

In the last two minutes, Niagara added four more goals giving them a commanding 6 – 1 lead. The first came from Jakob Reeves at 18:05 assisted by Patrick Desjardins and Jesse Masterson. Zach Main connected next at 18:42 assisted by Brandon Lindberg and Jakob Reeves. John Swiatek added another at 19:19 assisted by David Christopher and then Christopher banged in a power play goal, his second of the night,  with two seconds left in the period, assists went to Justin Graham and Nick Postorious.

The Whalers added two more goals in the third period. Frolov Mikhail connected at 8:34 with assists going to Kellan Rosenbaum and Will Harvey. Jakob Reeves added his second of the night on the power play at 9:34 assisted by Patrick Desjardins and Jesse Masterson.

The games three stars were from the Niagara Whalers:

  • Star #1: Jakob Reeves with two goals and two assists.
  • Star #2: Will Harvey, goalie, with 43 saves for a 0.977 sv%.
  • Star #3: David Christopher with two goals and one assist.

The Whalers are next in action Friday Oct. 13 on home ice at 7:30 p.m. against the London Lakers.
