At 40 metres long, the tri-deck motor yacht Antares stood out as it sat along the west wall of the Welland Canal in Port Colborne, Ont. The Antares is the latest luxury yacht to pass through the St. Lawrence Seaway, Welland Canal and Port Colborne this summer.
In the past few years, a number of luxury yachts, including many from builder Palmer Johnson have passed through the area.

They always draw a crowd when the stop in the city, pass under the three bridges or sit in Lock 8, waiting for their turn to headed upbound into Lake Erie, and deeper into North America, or downbound to Lake Ontario, into the Atlantic Ocean to head to Europe, the Mediterranean, and Caribbean.

People stop to look over the Antares, docked on West St.

The Antares was built by Westport Yachts and launched in 2008. She has a crew of seven and can hold 10 passengers on board according to Charter World . She’s 40 metres (130 feet) long and is one of Westport’s 130 models

Like most yachts of this class, the cost of the vessel is unknown. Its owner is also unknown, which is also common. Many of these yachts are also rented out by their owners. People that flock to see these boats are always hoping to catch sight of a celebrity, as many will rent yachts. There have been numerous rumours of various stars passing through the Great Lakes on yachts such as Antares. I’ve never seen one though, I just like the lines of the various yachts.
