Avalanche take game two in series with Meteors

Game two has ended with a 5 – 2 win for the Ancaster Avalanche in first round playoff action with the Fort Erie Meteors Saturday Mar. 4 in GPJHL hockey action in Anacaster.

Ancaster scored four unanswered goals in the first period.

Zach Lawrence led off the scoring at 2:31, assists went to Owen Burnell and Benjamin Hatanak. Owen Burnell scored on the power play at 11:53, assisted by Zach Lawrence and Ryan Knill. Ryan Knill added one at 12:18, assisted by Zach Bramwell and Jeff Lindsay. Zach Lawrence netted the fourth one at 13:20, assists went to Benjamin Hatanaka and Dawson Garcia.

Fort Erie scored the only goals in the second period.

Danny Katic scored on the power play at 3:55, assists went to Daylong Groulx and Dakota Miscolczi. Milke Masotti got their second at 5:53, assisted by Cail Cirillo.

Ancaster’s Zach Bramwell scored the lone goal in the third period, an empty netter at 19:03, assisted by Owen Burnell and Ryan Knill.

This puts Ancaster ahead two games in the best-of-seven series.

Game three is in Fort Erie Monday Mar. 6 at 7:15 p.m., game four in Ancaster Wed. Mar. 8 and game five is in Fort Erie Thursday Mar. 9.
