Niagara Health Foundation press release – The 2020 Big Move Cancer Ride brought together over 330 riders in the 12th annual ride in support of Niagara Health’s Walker Family Cancer Centre. The virtual ride encouraged participants to “ride from home” while raising funds for Niagara Health Foundation. This year’s event raised over $370,000 toward cancer care in Niagara.

“Seeing our community come together and continue to make a difference for individuals in Niagara facing cancer is, quite frankly, nothing short of extraordinary,” says Andrea Scott, Interim President & CEO of Niagara Health Foundation. “We are so grateful for our inspirational community of riders, donors and corporate partners who are dedicated to supporting excellent cancer care in Niagara.”

In the past 12 years, the annual event has raised more than $4.1 million for the Walker Family Cancer Centre. All the proceeds from this year’s event will support the purchase of chemotherapy equipment and upgrades for the Walker Family Cancer Centre.

“Through the midst of COVID-19, the Walker Family Cancer Centre continued to serve all those who needed care,” says Dr. Janice Giesbrecht, Medical Director of Oncology, Walker Family Cancer Centre. “We continue to meet the needs of cancer patients at Niagara Health by supporting state-of-the-art cancer treatments, allowing more patients to receive specialized care in Niagara. We are so grateful for those who support the Walker Family Cancer Centre and The Big Move Cancer Ride year after year.  These supports have helped us build comprehensive cancer care and radiation services, with the focus this year on enhancing chemotherapy administration.”

The Big Move Cancer Ride will continue to collect donations and pledges for riders until October 31, 2020. For more information please visit
