Bridges Community Health Centre wants to raise awareness of dental care needs in the Port Colborne, Wainfleet and Fort Erie areas and needs your help collecting information.
The information will be used to advocate for dental health services for people with little to no coverage in the three cities.
According to a release from Bridges, a significant number of people do not have access to dental coverage.
“Poor dental health affects a person’s physical health, opportunities for employment, while eroding self-esteem and social well-being,” the release said.
It added that ignoring the problem comes with a price tag.
“In Niagara, dental health issues accounted for 1,908 visits to the emergency room costing approximately $1 million in 2012 alone.”
Bridges is asking at least one person per household to take an anonymous online survey to gain a more complete picture of dental care needs.
The survey can be found at www.surveymonkey.com/s/yourdentalhealth, and printed copies are available in the clinic waiting rooms at both the Fort Erie, 1485 Garrison Rd., and Port Colborne, 177 King St., locations.

A copy of the survey can be seen below.
