Brock students set to make Monster Pitch to entrepreneurs

Brock University press release – Four Brock University student teams will present their business ideas to an all-star panel of judges Monday, Jan. 8/2018 as the Goodman School of Business Monster Pitch returns to the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre.

The student teams from multiple Brock faculties will be competing for a prize package worth more than $12,500 in cash and startup support services.

This year’s judging panel includes: David Chilton, author of The Wealthy Barber series; Bruce Croxon, co-host of BNN’s The Disruptors and CEO of Round13; Deborah Rosati, corporate director and co-founder of Women Get On Board; and Jason Sparaga, co-founder and co-CEO of Spark Power Corp. and founder of Spara Capital Partners.

Inspired by the hit TV show Dragons’ Den, Monster Pitch is hosted by the Brock Innovation Group student club. It’s supported by the Goodman School of Business and BioLinc and is sponsored by Spark Power Corp.

The seventh-annual Monster Pitch event will also include a talk by Steeped Tea founder Tonia Jahshan, who successfully pitched her business plan on Dragons’ Den in 2012 and a keynote address by Welland native Anthony Lacavera, founder and chairman of Globalive Capital and founder of Wind Mobile, Canada’s fourth-largest wireless carrier, which is now known as Freedom Mobile.

The competition starts at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8/2018 at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre.
