Buchanan House land visioning session

Historic Buchanan House

The City of St. Catharines is calling out to the community for help shaping the future of the parkland around the historic Buchanan House.

The City wants to meet with residents to learn more about their ideas about how to use the Niagara Street green space during two visioning sessions set for later this month: Thursday, June 21 from noon to 2 p.m. and Wednesday, June 27/2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The visioning sessions are a kind of workshop where participants work together to propose a shared vision for the parkland, and are a follow up to the City’s questionnaire on the topic from earlier this year. The visioning sessions will start with optional, hour-long Buchanan House parkland walking tours led by the City’s Green Advisory Committee during the first hour. Discussions will follow during the second hour at the nearby St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre.

“What we have at our Niagara Street property is a beautiful, natural setting,” said Jessica Button, project and development planner. “We’ve learned that residents value the Buchanan House parkland and we want to involve residents in creating a vision for what the parkland can become.”

Residents can visit www.stcatharines.ca/PlanYourPark or can call 905.688.5601 ext. 3145 to RSVP for one of the two sessions by Monday, June 18/2018.
