Port man arrested

A Port Colborne man was found with a bulletproof vest following a traffic stop in Welland Tuesday, said Niagara Regional Police.
Police said officers from the Welland street crime unit were conducting an investigation when they made the traffic stop.
The bulletproof vest belonged to an unnamed law enforcement agency, said police.
Arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 was Derek Kilimnik, 31, of Port Colborne. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing Wednesday.

Drugs seized

Niagara Regional Police seized more than $6,000 in cocaine, $750 in marijuana, $375 in cash, various items utilized in the sale of drugs and numerous items, believed to be stolen, from a Welland residence Tuesday.
Police said in early January officers from the street crime unit began an investigation into the alleged drug dealing activities of a male living in the east side of Welland.
After watching two parties conduct a drug transaction on Tuesday, officers moved in and arrested two men.
A controlled drug and substance act search warrant was carried out at a Bradley Ave., where the drugs and stolen items were found.
Police said the investigation into the stolen property is ongoing. 
Arrested and charged charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 was Donald Nelson Sr., 56.
Also charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and two counts of fail to comply with a probation order was Randy Weaver, 51.
Both were held in custody pending a bail hearing Wednesday.

St. Catharines woman arrested

Niagara Regional Police seized $1,700 in cocaine, $200 in prescription medication and $575 in cash after executing a search warrant on a St. Catharines residence Tuesday.
Police said a female was found inside the Moote St. address and arrested when police found the drugs and money.
Rhonda Gamble, 44, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and one count of possession of proceeds of crime.
Police said this was the second time a search warrant was executed on the residence in the last three weeks. In early February, police said Gamble was arrested and charged with several drug related offences.
