Cause of Vinyl Works Canada fire released

The cause of Tuesday’s fire at Vinyl Works Canada, 2174 Barber Dr. in Port Colborne was released by the Port Colborne Fire and Emergency Services Department Thursday Feb. 8/2018.

An update from Deputy Fire Chief Mike Bendia said: “The investigation conducted by the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshall, Port Colborne Fire & Emergency Services, and Niagara Regional Police Services has been completed. Manny Garcia, Supervisor, Office of the Fire Marshall Fire Investigative Services reported that the origin of the fire has been located at the structures southwest quadrant and has determined the cause to be an accidental fire brought about by a catastrophic failure of the electrical system.”

The estimation of damage is over $3 million dollars.
