Celebrating summer at the Ridgeway Summer Festival

Ridgeway Summer Festival fun in the splash pad Saturday.

Downtown Ridgeway has come alive this weekend for the 28th Annual Ridgeway Summer Festival.

The downtown core is packed with vendors and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy. Food and fun plus shopping is the festival’s raison d’être.

“I think this just keeps getting bigger and better every year,” Ridgeway BIA Chair Marge Ott said. “We’ve got some great vendors here, artisans, food trucks and our local merchants putting stuff out, it’s absolutely phenomenal.”

“We have been blessed with the weather too,” she said. “Last week was really hot, but, this weekend, it’s just comfortable.”

The festival is a kick-off event for summer in Ridgeway/Crystal Beach.

“This event kicks-off the summer for us and people come from all over to celebrate with us,” she said. “Just look at all the people here today.”

Entertainment out front of the seniors centre at the festival Saturday.

“We expect between 25,000 to 30,000 people to come through here this weekend,” she said.

Sunday July 8th the festival continues.

“Tomorrow we have a great car show here, its one of the biggest ones in the area,” Ott said.

The entertainment food and fun continues tomorrow leading off with the traditional pancake breakfast at 10 a.m.

Festivals like this can’t be done without the help of its volunteers.

“We have the best team of volunteers that you could ever ask for,” Ott said. “We could never pull this off without this team. They are absolutely top-notch. You ask, they deliver.”

The festival continues tonight until 11 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
