Community Safety Fun Fest June 3

St. Catharines Fire Department CrestMark Saturday, June 3 on your calendar for Fun Fest, an annual funfilled day of family activities at the Real Canadian Superstore. St. Catharines Fire Services, Thorold Fire and Emergency Services and the Real Canadian Superstore invite the community to spring into fire safety at the Community Safety Fun Fest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Real Canadian Superstore at 411 Louth St. hosts this free event in its parking lot and provides families the opportunity to meet firefighters for a day of fun while learning about the important roles of community organizations, including the Canadian Red Cross, Alectra Utilities and Enbridge.

The day features a variety of activities everyone will enjoy, including a free barbecue, games, bouncers, live entertainment and rides on CN Rail’s Obie the Safety Train.

“Fun Fest is something we all look forward to every spring,” said Fire Chief Dave Wood. “It’s a great chance for children and families to meet and get to know emergency responders in a friendly, fun atmosphere and for us to talk about what they can do to keep themselves safe, like maintaining smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms and being safe with fireworks.”

There will also be fire trucks and other heavy-duty trucks on site. Everyone is welcome to explore these mighty machines and take pictures. Firefighters and other emergency responders will stage safety demonstrations.

The event takes place rain or shine. Firefighters will also collect food donations for Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold. Visit www.stcatharines.ca/FunFest for more information.
