COVID-19 outbreak in Welland retirement home

Niagara Region Public Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak in Welland at a retirement home.

ÈNiagara Region Public Health and Emergency Services is declaring an outbreak of COVID-19 at Seasons Retirement Community in Welland after a second case of COVID-19 was confirmed at the facility,” a Niagara Region Public Health press release said Friday, Mar. 27/2020. “The first case at this facility, a resident in their 80’s, developed respiratory symptoms on Wednesday, March 18/2020, and is currently in the hospital in stable condition. The second resident became symptomatic on March 23/2020, and was subsequently taken to the hospital and tested for COVID-19.”
“Seasons Retirement Community in Welland is committed to the health and safety of their staff and residents. They are working diligently with Niagara Region Public Health and Emergency Services to control the outbreak,” the press release said.
“As this is an evolving situation, we continue to remind everyone of the importance of using credible sources to stay informed,” the release said.  “We update our website frequently as new information is confirmed.
