Drugs seized from Welland residence


Niagara Regional Police seized $1,100 in prepackaged cocaine, $100 in prescription pills, $95 in cannabis resin, and more $3,250 in both Canadian and American currency from a Welland residence Thursday.
Police said members of the Welland street crime unit began and the service’s Provincial Anti Violence Intervention Strategy unit began an investigation into the sale of cocaine by a male in the east end of the city in early January.
On Thursday, a controlled drug and substance act search warrant was executed on the Randolph St. residence.
Arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 was Ronald Tsanoff, 41.
Also arrested was George Ryan, 57, who was charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Both were held in custody pending a bail hearing Friday.
