Helping to provide Niagara families in need with a fresh start

On May 31/2017, Enercare Inc. announced the expansion of its signature corporate social responsibility program, the Enercare Fresh Start Program, with the addition of its third charity partner, Bethlehem Housing and Support Services. Together, the organizations will work to deliver Fresh Start Comfort Packages containing simple necessities and small luxuries that make it easier for families to get back on their feet.

“Bethlehem Housing and Support Services is doing incredible work in the Niagara region and we’re thrilled to partner with them for the Enercare Fresh Start Program,” said John Macdonald, President and Chief Executive Offer of Enercare. “We are committed to working closely with our charity partners to help families transitioning into more permanent living situations get the fresh start they need.”

Bethlehem Housing and Support Services, in partnership with the community, provides affordable housing and services to support the personal growth of individuals and families. In 2017, up to 22 families and individuals who are transitioning into permanent housing will receive a personalized Enercare Fresh Start package containing essential and comfort items, including linens, hygiene products and children’s toys.

“We believe everyone deserves a place to call home and for the individuals and families we work with at Bethlehem, securing permanent housing is a huge milestone,” said Lori Beech, Executive Director, Bethlehem Housing and Support Services. “It is wonderful to be able to deliver personalized Enercare Fresh Start packages to families who have been through hardship and help make their new house feel like a home.”

The Enercare Fresh Start Program launched in September 2016 and has supported ten families in York Region in partnership with its inaugural charity partner, Yellow Brick House. In 2017, the program announced a partnership with Red Door Family Shelter in downtown Toronto. Enercare plans to expand the Enercare Fresh Start Program into additional communities across Ontario.
