Falcons bowl over Junior Canadians with 9 – 1 win

The St. Catharines Falcons Sunday night battle with the Welland Junior Canadians was even for the first period, four unanswered second period Falcon goals put the Junior Canadians in a position they couldn’t recover from in GOJHL hockey action Sunday Feb. 18/2018 in Welland.

Both teams scored a single goal in the last quarter of the first period for a 1 – 1 tie for the period.

Gianluca Fuoco picked up the first goal of the game, short-handed, at 16:09, putting the Falcons ahead. Noah Blakely of the Junior Canadians connected on the power play shortly after at 18:48.

In the second period, the Falcons four unanswered goals gave them the 5 – 1 lead.

Liam Dunda netted the first of four at just 41 seconds in. Jaleel Adams netted the next on the power play at 2:52. Kyle West netted the third at 11:51 and Michael Davies netted his goal on the power play at 17:02.

The Falcons’ four third period goals came from Carson Edwardson at 5:57, Gainluca Fuoco at 9:27, Noah Perlic at 12:21 and Liam Dunda on the power play at 19:52.

The Falcons’ week has had them win at home 4 – 2 against the Thorold Blackhawks Friday Feb. 16/2018 and win an OT battle 4 – 3 in St. Catharines against the Regals Monday Feb. 12/2018.

The Falcons will be facing the Buffalo Regals again on Tuesday Feb. 20/2018 in Buffalo.

The Welland Junior Canadians also faced the Buffalo Regals this week. The Regals beat Welland 6 – 5 Saturday Feb. 17/2018 in Welland.

The Welland Junior Canadians will be facing the Pelham Panthers Family Day Monday Feb. 19/2018 in Pelham. Game begins at 6 p.m.
