Falcons dominate for 5 – 2 win over Meteors

The St. Catharines added another win to their 2017/2018 Saturday Jan. 27/2018 with a 5 – 2 win over the Fort Erie Meteors in GOJHL hockey action in Fort Erie.

The Falcons scored two unanswered goals in the first period to take a 2 – 0 lead. Carson Edwardson put in the first goal at 3:26 assisted by Noah Perlic and Matt Busby. Lucas Smilsky put in the second later in the period at 16:55 assisted by Carson Edwardson and Dakota Miskolczi.

IN the second period, both teams scored one each, the period ending 3 – 1 for St. Catharines. Dakota Miskolczi knocked in the Falcons goal on the power play at 8:03 assisted by Carson Edwardson and Jaleel Adams. Brady Lee scored the Meteors goal at 12:02 assisted by Kevin Weaver-Vitale.

In the third period the Falcons scored two short-handed goals 22 seconds apart early in the period. Liam Dunda netted his goal for the Falcons at 2:54 assisted by Dante Felicetti and Matt Busby. Zach Lawrence added the fifth Falcons goal at 3:16 assisted by Romaeo D’Intino and Tristan deJong.

Brady Lee netted the second Meteors goal at 10:38 with assists going to Alex McAteer and Evan Miller.

Currently the St. Catharines Falcons hold the second place position in the Golden Horseshoe Division standings, the Fort Erie Meteors are in the number eight spot. For up-to-date statistics see the GOJHL website: http://pointstreaksites.com/view/gojhl .

Earlier this week the Falcons beat the Buffalo Regals 6 – 1 in St. Catharines Friday night and they beat the Caledonia Corvairs 5 – 2 in St. Catharines Tuesday.

The St. Catharines Falcons will be facing the Thorold Blackhawks Thursday Feb. 1/2018 then they face off against the Welland Junior Candians Friday Feb. 2/2018 at the Jack Gatecliff arena at 7 p,m.

Fort Erie will be in Caledonia Monday Jan. 29/2018 against the Corvairs. They will be home again on Saturday Feb. 3/2018 facing off against the Niagara Falls Canucks at 7:15 p.m.
