Falcons move to next round after beating Panthers

The St. Catharines Falcons will be going on to the next round in the GOJHL playoffs after ending the 2017/2018 season for the Pelham Panthers with four straight wins in first round playoff action last week.

The week began with the Falcons ahead 2 – 0 in the series after winning 7 – 1 in the Mar. 2/2018 and 6 – 1 in the Mar. 4/2018.

In St. Catharines Tuesday Mar. 6/2018 game three was a close battle that ended in a 4 – 3 OT Falcons victory.

St. Catharines was ahead 2 – 1 at the end of the first period, Pelham tied the game 2 – 2 in the second. Each team scored one each in the third to force the overtime period, St. Catharines ended the game at 8:09 in the first overtime period.

St. Catharines goal scorers were Matt Busby, Liam Dunda, Tristan deJong and Jaleel Adams for the game winner. Pelham’s goals came from Noah Caperchione for two and Jared Hill.

In game four on Thursday Mar. 8/2018 in Pelham the Falcons won 6 – 2. St. Catharines was ahead 4 – 1 at the end of the first, 5 – 1 at the end of the second.

The St. Catharines goal scorers were: Dakota Miskolczi for two, Gianluca Fuoco, Kyle West, Dante Felicetti and Zach Lawrence. Zach Thompson and Noah Caperchione were the Pelham goal scorers.

The Falcons will be facing the Ancaster Avalanche who just finished their series with four straight wins against the Welland Junior Canadians Friday night.
