Fort Meteors fall to Welland Junior Canadians

meteorsjrcdnsThe Fort Erie Meteors lost 7-1 to the Welland Junior Canadians in GOJHL hockey action Saturday night in Fort Erie.

Welland’s Matt Martin opened the scoring at 7:28 in the first period, assisted by Steven Farano. Martin connected again at 12:11 on the power play assisted by Steven Farano and Patrick Desjardins. Fort Erie’s Daylon Groulx added their lone goal on the power play at 15:55, assisted by Danny Katic and Andrew Somerville. Welland’s Matt Hobbs netted their third goal at 15:20, assisted by Ryan Donovan and Trevor LeDonne.

Ryan Miotto lead off Welland’s four goal second period effort at 12:32, assisted by Steven Farano and Patrick Desjardins. David Hooper netted one at 13:44, assisted by Ryan McBurney and Bradley Boudreau. Ryan Donovan added their sixth at 14:46, assisted by Ryan McBurney and Patrick Desjardins and Ryan Miotto ended the evening’s scoring with their seventh at 15:46, assisted by Thomas McLatchie and Noah Boilert.

There was no scoring in the third period.

The Fort Erie Meteors next see action at home Saturday Oct. 8 against Niagara Falls, the Welland Junior Canadians are in action tonight against against St. Catharines Falcons in Welland.
