Flapjack fundraiser helps those in need

Over 200 guests attended the 6th Annual Port Cares Pancake Brunch Tuesday raising funds to help those in need.

Over 200 guests enjoyed the 6th Annual Pancake Brunch fundraiser Tuesday Feb. 5/2018, funds raised help those in need in the community.

“A huge thank you to the over 200 people who turned out for our 6th annual Pancake Brunch at our Reach Out Centre,” Port Cares said through their social media account. “A special thank you to Shaun Slat of Tendercuts for not only donating all of the sausages for the event but also helping serve the meals, to Tabatha who is the assistant manager of the Tim Horton’s at 197 Main. St East for bringing in 3 huge containers of Tim Horton’s coffee and hot chocolate; and to Dean, Sarah and Amanda for cooking up a storm.”

Local politicians, radio personalities and other volunteers helped with the event.

Funds were also raised through toque sales for Raising the Roof to be used in their campaign to help fight national homelessness as well as help out in the local community.

Funds are still being tallied from the event.
