Fort Erie Live Racing Consortium applies for 40 race days in 2017

Fort-Erie-RacetrackAs another successful racing season comes to an end at Fort Erie Race Track, the Board of Directors of the Fort Erie Live Racing Consortium passed a resolution to apply for 40 live race days in 2017.

The border oval’s 120th season will begin on May 30 next year with popular twilight Tuesday racing, followed by live entertainment at the Tiki Bar patio. The season will conclude on Tuesday, October 17.

The application for live race dates in 2017 is for Tuesdays and Sundays in June and July, and Tuesdays and Saturdays in August, September and October. Racing on Tuesdays throughout the summer, as well as Saturdays in August will be twilight racing, followed by musical entertainment at the Tiki Bar.

“We are always looking for ways to make our live racing product more successful, both on track and within the remote wagering market,” said Jim Thibert, chief executive officer of the Fort Erie Live Racing Consortium. “Saturday racing will be a pilot project for the 2017 season, with the hope that it will help us continue to grow our business and attract more people to the track.”

Only two live race days remain in Fort Erie’s 2016 season, on October 16 and 18 at a special 1:30 post time. October 18 is also fan appreciation day. Racing fans can look forward to free pocket programs and random draw prizes.

Parking and admission are always free. For more information about the Fort Erie Race Track, visit
