Fort Erie Meteors fall 5 – 3 to Niagara Falls Canucks Friday

The Fort Erie Meteors fell to the Niagara Falls Canucks in GOJHL hockey action Friday night in the Falls, the Canucks won 5 – 3.

The first period was scoreless, Fort Erie led off the scoring in the second period at 1:18 with a goal from Danny Katic, assisted by Andrew Somerville and Tyler Hawk. Dakota Miskolczi scored on the power play for the Meteors at 9:07, assisted by Andrew Somerville and Bryce Martin. Maxwell Ligthfoot of the Canucks put them on the scoreboard at 15:38, assisted by Michael Arch and Justin Kyle.

The Fort Erie Meteors held a 2 – 1 lead over the Canucks at the end of the second.

Niagara Falls Patrick McCabe led the comeback for the Canucks, scoring their second goal at 3:14, assists went to Phillip Chadder and Jake Gilmour. Harrison Cottam of the Canucks put them in the lead at 4:17, assisted by Frank Pucci and Kurtis Henry, Garrett Downie padded the Canuck’s lead with a goal at 7:03, assisted by Jag Masters and Owen Green. At this point, the Canucks had a 4 – 2 lead. With an extra attacker, Fort Erie’s Danny Katic scored an unassisted goal to bring the score to 4 – 3. An empty netter by Tanner Brown of the Canucks at 19:40 put the game a little out of reach, 5 – 3.

The Fort Erie Meteors are at home Saturday Dec. 17 against the Pelham Panthers.
