Fort Erie partners with POST Promise to further support local businesses

Town of Fort Erie press release – As public spaces and workplaces across Canada begin to reopen, thousands of businesses are coming together to build confidence and awareness to keep customers, employees and communities safe. The Town of Fort Erie is joining this initiative by partnering with the POST Promise to support local businesses.

Endorsed by the Government of Canada and organizations representing well over 100,000 businesses, the POST Promise (People Outside Safely Together) is a private-sector led initiative designed to help Canadians confidently and safely take the first steps back into public spaces and the workplace. The POST Promise calls on businesses to commit to upholding five key steps to protect customers and employees:

  1. Maintain physical distancing
  2. Stay home if unwell
  3. Practice respiratory etiquette
  4. Clean and disinfect regularly
  5. Wash and sanitize hands

“The POST Promise is a fantastic opportunity for Fort Erie businesses to be part of an important movement that will mitigate risk and contribute to reactivating the economy. This commitment will help our residents to feel safer as they step into the community to support local businesses,” said Mayor Wayne Redekop.

Businesses who voluntarily commit to the POST Promise will be provided with free communication tools and may display the nationally-recognized POST Promise logo to indicate that they are taking the necessary steps to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

“The POST Program was created to support small businesses and to help restore consumer confidence across the country. When Canadians see the POST Promise logo they know the company they are doing business with is taking critical steps to help prevent the spread of COVID-19,” said Laura Hearn, President & Executive Director of the POST Promise. “We are so grateful to the Town of Fort Erie for its support and for helping to build awareness of this important initiative.”
