Four straight Avalanche wins ends season for Junior Canadians

The Welland Junior Canadians have hung up their jerseys for another year as their 2017/2018 hockey season came to an end Friday Mar. 9/2018 after losing the fourth game straight of the first round playoff series to the Ancaster Avalanche.

After last weekend, the Avalanche were ahead two games to zero. The first game on Saturday Mar. 3/2018 Ancaster won 4 – 1, and in game two they won 2 – 1 in Welland Sunday Mar. 4/2018.

Game three ended in a 2 – 0 win for the Avalanche in Ancaster on Wednesday Mar. 7/2018. Ancaster’s goals came from Justin Homer in the first period and Luke Croucher in the third period.

Game four on Friday Mar. 9/2018 was a battle ending in a 2 – 0 win for Ancaster, ending the season for the Junior Canadians in front of a Welland crowd.

The first period was scoreless, most of the second period too. Ancaster got on the scoreboard at 19:59 in the second period with a goal from Macklin McPhee. Liam Van Loon scored their second goal at 4:16 in the third period.

The Avalanche will be facing the St. Catharines Falcons in the conference semi finals.
