Game ends in all out brawl: suspensions coming

The Welland Junior Canadians tweeted themselves, “Lots of suspensions coming for both teams following an all out brawl at the end of today’s game.”

The Ancaster Avalanche took the game Sunday in Welland with a 2 – 1 win.

Welland Junior Canadians logoWelland’s Ryan McBurney scored the lone goal of the first period, late in the period, at 17:22, assisted by Ryan Donovan and Bradley Boudreau. They held onto that lead until late in the second period, Ancaster’s Owen Burnell scored at 19:00, assisted by Ryan Knill to bring the game to a tie which lasted through most of the third period.

Ancaster scored the game winner at 14:54, Zach Bramwell connected, assisted by Graydon James.

At the end of the game, 12 players in total received game misconducts for their actions in the brawl at the buzzer. The heated game ended with Ancaster receiving 54 minutes in penalties on 21 infractions and Welland 37 minutes on 15 infractions.

The Welland Junior Canadians are next in action Saturday Feb. 11 in Caledonia against the Corvairs before facing the Niagara Falls Canucks in Welland Sunday Feb. 12. They then face the Pelham Panthers Tuesday Feb. 14 in Pelham.
