GNMRE open house ignites model train passion

Matthew Whitaker and David Witaker operate some of the trains at Saturday’s open house.

In a small clubhouse in Fenwick, people gather on a regular basis to share a passion for model railroading.

The Greater Niagara Model Railroad Engineers (GNMRE) held an open house last Saturday Dec. 8/2018, coinciding with the Pelham Santa Claus Parade.

“We usually see a big crowd at this open house,” GNMRE president James Whitaker said. “We’ll get a rush of people through after the parade.”

“They like to come in, young and old, and watch as several model trains journey through our Fenwick Central layout,” he said. “We are always happy to see everybody who comes by for a visit.”

The organization is always looking for new members who have a love for model railroading. The club holds regular meetings every Wednesday throughout the year.
