Niagara Regional Police Service press release – In February 2020, detectives with the Niagara Regional Police, 1 District (St. Catharines) Street Crime Unit, began an investigation into the alleged sales of fentanyl, in the City of St. Catharines.
The investigation led detectives to identify a male suspect.
On Thursday, July 16/2020, the suspect was arrested. As a result, detectives seized 8.2 grams of fentanyl, 14 grams of cocaine and $1,835 in currency believed to be the proceeds of his drug sales. The drugs seized have an estimated street value of $3,450.
Ojeshina Babatunde (24 years old) of Toronto, Ontario was arrested and charged with the alleged following offences:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, to wit fentanyl, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drug and Substances Act. (2 Counts)
- Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Under $5000.00, contrary to Section 355(b) of the Criminal Code.
Babatunde was released on a Form 10 – Undertaking and is expected to appear at court on September 18/2020.
