Meteors lose to Avalanche in 2OT

Ancaster’s Caelan McPhee and Brady Lee of the Meteors jostle for puck control in GOJHL hockey action Monday in Fort Erie.

For the second time this month, the Fort Erie Meteors lost 4 – 3 in overtime to the Ancaster Avalanche, the latest loss came on Monday Feb. 19/2018.

On Feb. 8/2018 they lost by the same score in Ancaster. In the other February meet up with Ancaster last week, the Meteors lost 7 – 2.

In Monday’s game, the teams were tied with one each at the end of the first. Marco Larriccia scored Fort Erie’s goal, Macklin McPhee scored Ancaster’s goal.

Ancaster went ahead scoring two goals to Fort Erie’s one in the second period. The Ancaster goals came from Dawson McKinney and Michael Cabral. Fort Erie’s goal came from Daneil Nardi.

Fort Erie’s Luca Mazzo scored the lone goal of the third period sending the game into overtime.

Ancaster’s Benjamin Woodhouse knocked in the game winner for Ancaster in the second overtime period.

In Saturday Feb. 17/2018 hockey action in Fort Erie the Caledonia Corvairs won 9 – 1 over the Meteors.

The Meteors are currently in the eighth place spot in the GOJHL standings, the Caledonia Corvairs in first, the Ancaster Avalanche in third. For up to date statistics see the GOJHL website: http://pointstreaksites.com/view/gojhl .

The Fort Erie Meteors will be facing the Buffalo Regals Saturday Feb. 24/2018 in Fort Erie at 7:15 p.m., then they finish their season in Welland on Sunday Feb. 25/2018 against the Junior Canadians at 7 p.m.
